The Georgetown International Academy (GIA) Key Club yesterday handed over $11,520,250 and a quantity of Juviton Syrup to the Giving Hope Foundation.
According to a press release from the GIA, the money was raised through a Childhood Cancer Awareness Walk that was hosted by its Key Club on October 15 in aid of children in Guyana who are battling various forms of cancer.
The Giving Hope Foundation is a non-profit organisation whose primary goal is to render assistance to children diagnosed with cancer, the release stated.
The release also mentioned that on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, the Key Club completed the construction and handing over of a small hydroponics shadehouse for vegetable gardening at the Dharm Shala in Albouystown. While there, the Key Clubbers donated personalised gift bags of toiletries to each resident and decorated the Christmas tree in time for the Dharm Shala’s annual children’s Christmas party, the release stated.
