Even though the Ministry of Public Infrastructure (MPI) has started work on fixing the sink hole that had developed on Vlissingen Road near to the seawall more than a week ago, no significant progress has been made. One of the workers on the site had explained that the hole was formed after one of the galvanized pipes under the road burst, letting water through and it subsequently caved in.
