A labourer, who police allege committed two armed robberies, was on Tuesday remanded to prison after being charged in a city court.
Richard Khan, 24, is accused of stealing a total of $21,300 in items in the two robberies.
It is alleged that on December 20, 2016, at St Ignatius, Khan, in company of another and armed with a knife, robbed Christiana McDonald of a baby bag, three bottles, a blanket, a cellphone, a sim card, an eight-gigabyte memory card and a head torchlight, having a total value of $15,100.
The second charge against him stated that on the same date at Lethem, in the company of another and armed with a knife, he robbed Anna Peters of $5,000 and four pieces of roast chicken valued $1,200.
According to the prosecutor, the items were not recovered.
Khan pleaded not guilty to both charges and Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan remanded him until March 7, when the matters will be called at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court.
