ADELAIDE, Australia, CMC – Chris Jordan outshone West Indies star Kieron Pollard as Adelaide Strikers won for only the second time in five outings with a five-wicket victory over Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League here yesterday.
Sent in, Hobart managed 161 for eight off their 20 overs at Adelaide Oval, with number seven Beau Webster hammering an unbeaten 67 off 43 deliveries and Jonathan Wells getting 55 from 37 balls.
The pair dug Hobart out of a hole at 30 for five in the sixth over, putting on an invaluable 89 for the sixth wicket.
Jordan, the Barbados-born England all-rounder, bowled superbly to claim three for 24 from his four overs.
In reply, Adelaide got home in the penultimate over with left-handed opener Ben Dunk top-scoring with an unbeaten 79 from 49 balls.
He added 69 for the third wicket with Brad Hodge who made 30 and then partnered with Jordan in an unbroken 31-run, sixth wicket stand to see Adelaide to victory.
Jordan struck 15 not out off 14 balls with a single six.
However, Pollard’s struggles with the bat continued as he made just 15 off seven balls with three fours before falling lbw to seamer Daniel Christian in the 14th over.
The 29-year-old has scored just 60 runs in five innings during the tournament.
With the win, Strikers climbed into sixth spot in the eight-team standings on four points while Hobart remained fifth on four points.
