A South African man was on Monday charged with overstaying his time in Guyana.
Daniel Frederick Kruyar, a pilot, was read a charge which alleged that he overstayed his time in Guyana after being granted permission to stay from December 7, 2015 to December 20, 2015.
A not-guilty plea was entered by the defendant for the charge after it was read to him by a city magistrate.
The defendant’s attorney told the court that at present his client was not working and had given the police his passport.
The court heard too that Kruyar currently resides at the Tourist Villa in Subryanville, but had taken up residence in Port Kaituma with his common-law wife.
After the prosecution informed the court that the case file was incomplete, Kruyar was granted $75,000 bail by Magistrate Fabayo Azore and ordered to report to the nearest police station every Friday.
The matter will be called again on January 30.
