Dear Editor,
It must be of concern that Chair persons and a director of State Boards under the purview of the Prime Minister have resigned.
These resignations beg the question: were poor choices made with regards to heads of these Boards?
It began with director Mr. Imran Khan resigning from the NCN Board following the appointment of Mr. Lennox Cornette as CEO of that entity; then the Chairperson of GNNL Board, Jean La Rose tendered her resignation citing work demands and commitments; (the PM’S rep on this Board (Khan) is acting Chair), this was followed by the Guyana National Broadcasting Authority debacle which rendered that entity headless and saw the conduct of a CoI with the subsequent resignation of the Chairman, Leonard Craig; and, it came full circle with the resignation of the Chairman of NCN, Bish Panday, as reported in the ‘Stabroek News’ of Friday, January 13 2017.
It is noteworthy that Mr. Panday’s resignation came on the heels of the termination of Ron Robinson.
One cannot help but ponder in this particular case if there is more in the mortar…?
Yours faithfully,
Shamshun Mohamed
