A labourer was released on self-bail on Tuesday after denying a charge that he stole a $35,000 bicycle.
Daniel Baird was read the charge by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in a Georgetown court. It was alleged that on January 14, at Tabatinga, Lethem Main Road, Baird stole the bicycle, which was the property of Leslie Parris.
Baird, 24, pleaded not guilty.
According to police prosecutor Deniro Jones, the item was recovered.
Chief Magistrate McLennan released Baird on self-bail and adjourned the matter to March 7, when it will be called at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court.
