No bail for Aishalton farmer on gun, ammo charges

An Aishalton farmer was on Tuesday remanded to prison after police alleged that he had a firearm and ammunition in his possession.
Orvine Roberts, 45, was brought before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and read a charge which stated that on January 14, at Aishalton, Deep South, Rupununi, he had in his possession a 16-gauge shotgun and a 12-gauge cartridge without being the owner of a licensed firearm.
Roberts pleaded not guilty to the charges.
March 7 is the date slated for his next hearing, which will be heard at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court. Roberts will remain in prison until that time.
