Trophy Stall became the latest organization to support the second Annual Petra Organization/Limacol football tournament donating the championship trophy and two nets yesterday at their South Road and Bourda location.
Proprietor of the establishment Ramesh Sunich, during a brief comment, thanked the Petra Organization for allowing the company to be part of the event.
He said the Petra Organisation was the reason football is currently being played right now.
Meanwhile, Petra Organization Co-Director Troy Mendonca said: “On behalf of the Petra Organization, we thank Trophy Stall for their continued support.
“We have always tried to full areas that need assistance. “The donation will go a long way in giving the second tier of teams in the country the opportunity to compete”.
The event will be contested in an initial round-robin format with the top two finishers progressing to the quarterfinal round.
Group-A consists of Milerock, Winners Connection, Grove Hi-Tech and Northern Rangers whilst group-B features Western Tigers, Uitvlugt, Eagles and NA United.
Group-C comprises Santos, Pouderoyen, Den Amstel and Ann’s Grove while group-D contains Guyana Police Force (GPF), Riddim Squad, Camptown and Mahaica Determinators.
It will officially kickoff commence on January 3rd at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda with a group-D doubleheader as, GPF battles Mahaica Determinators and Riddim Squad tackles Camptown.
It will then resume on the 27th, with Western Tigers engaging NA United in a group-B affair and Santos opposing Ann’s Grove in a group-C encounter at the GFC ground. The winner of each group will receive $100,000 while the respective finishers will pocket $50,000, $30,000 and $20,000 apiece. Winner of the event will pocket $500,000 and a trophy while the second, third and fourth placed teams will receive $250,000, $125,000 and $75,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
