GPF, Grove Hi-Tech match could be a scorcher

With two semi-final berths still up for grabs in the Stag Nation Cup, Riddim Squad will oppose Den Amstel while Guyana Police Force (GPF) tackles two-time defending champ Grove Hi-Tech in the quarterfinal round today at the Camp Ayanganna ground in what promises to be a scorcher.

Riddim Squad stormed their way quarterfinal section following a 5-2 whipping of Cougars and will start the contest at 19:00hrs as the favourite.

A similar result will be targeted by the Mocha based unit through their family ties of siblings, Sheldon, Steffon and Sceyon Hope and cousins Rawle Ramsay, Orville Stewart and Teon Jones.

For Den Amstel, their place in the quarterfinal was sealed following a penalty shoot-out win over Ann’s Grove and as such, an improved showing will be required led by the quartet of Travis Hilliman, Gavin Graham, Andre Hector and Kevaughn Ward.

Meanwhile, the feature match at 21:00hrs is anticipated to be a keen contest. The defending champion clinched their place in the final eight by overcoming New Amsterdam (NA) United 4-2.

Sherman Doris, Mervin Squires and Joel Dick were instrumental in the victory and will be expected to maintain their form in partnership with returning talisman Domini Garnett to maintain their hopes of retaining the title for a third year.

On the other hand, the lawmen riddled Rosignol United 13-2 to seal their place in the quarterfinal round.

Another dominant display will be expected from the free-scoring officers of Keenon Rajgopaul, Kester Dundas, Quincy Holder, Grayson Barker, Anthio Wallace, Junior Gordon, Dwayne Charles, Jermaine Castello, Jermaine Grandison and Rawle Turnell when play commences.

Western Tigers and Santos have already sealed their place in the final four.
