Two men already on remand, along with another, were taken before the Chief Magistrate and read three armed robbery charges, where they allegedly stole over $1 million worth of items.
Calvin Reid, 24, Raymond Reid, 25, and Leron Blake 27, were taken before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and read the three charges.
The first charge stated that the trio, on March 24, 2016, near the Cuyuni River, while armed with a gun, stole a quantity of items from Caleb Trim, having a total value of $1, 271,000.
A second charge stated that on the said date, and location, armed with a gun they robbed Carletta Harris of a phone, and several pieces of jewellery, having a total value of $200,000.
The final charge alleged that while armed with a gun they also stole three pennyweight of gold and a G-shock watch from Gavin Andrews, on the said date.
Three not guilty pleas resounded throughout the courtroom when the defendants were asked by the Chief Magistrate if they were guilty or not guilty.
The court heard from Police Prosecutor Neville Jeffers, that both Calvin and Raymond were employed with Trim during the time of the robbery. He added that Calvin and Leron are presently on remand for narcotics possession.
Bail was objected to by the prosecutor who stated that a gun was used during the committal of the robberies.
Chief Magistrate McLennan subsequently refused bail for the trio, and adjourned the matter to March 21, when it will be heard at the Kaikan Magistrate’s Court.
