Cabinet at its meeting on January 24, 2016 granted its no-objection to more than $95 million for the maintenance and cleaning of drainage and irrigation channels in Regions 4 and 6.
This was disclosed yesterday by the Ministry of the Presidency.
The Cane Grove Water Users’ Association has been granted a $20,022,120 contract for the maintenance and cleaning of 36,098 rods of drainage and irrigation channels at Cane Grove, East Coast Demerara, Region 4. This contract covers the period January to December 2017.
A similar contract valued $35,359,200 was granted to the #52-#74 Villages Water Users’ Association for the maintenance of drainage and irrigation channels from # 52 – #74 Corentyne, Berbice, Region # 6 while the Black Bush Polder Water Users’ Association has been granted a $21,712,200 contract for the maintenance and cleaning of 36,187 rods of irrigation channels (collector drains) at Black Bush Polder, Corentyne, Berbice, Region # 6.
Additionally the Black Bush Polder Water Users’ Association was granted a separate $17,829,600.00 contract for the maintenance and cleaning of an additional 37,145 rods of drainage channels at Black Bush Polder, Corentyne, Berbice, Region 6.
