Police are searching for a man who has been positively identified from video surveillance footage as one of the men involved in the robbery of a Chinese Supermarket in South Ruimveldt Gardens on Wednesday.
Commander of ‘A’ Division Clifton Hicken told Stabroek News that after investigators reviewed the footage, they were able to identify one of the four men who committed the robbery on the Convenience Supermarket. He explained that the person identified is a known character and the police have been searching for him.
Around 9am on Wednesday, four men, all armed with handguns, invaded the supermarket.
After they rushed in, one of the men locked the metal door and the others held the four persons in the business at gunpoint.
The men forced them to lay face down on the floor. The bandits were able to grab $700,000 from the cash register and persons in the supermarket before they rushed back into their awaiting car and escaped.
