Dear Editor,
I call on the Town Clerk of the Georgetown Municipality, Royston King, to explain his position on the privately operated parking lot on East Street. With regard to that white elephant, I wish to remind the Town Clerk, the Mayor and the entire council, that they have an obligation to first consult with residents, and to execute projects that are beneficial for the council and residents.
In closing, here’s a reminder of how the affected East Street residents feel about the parking lot: “Residents of East Street are appealing to the authorities to discontinue the paid parking lot recently set up by the city and for the removal of the steel barricades that were erected. In a letter in Saturday’s edition of Stabroek News, 100 residents pleaded for President David Granger to have the paid parking lot ended.
It appears that the paid parking is a cost recovery measure by the city…”(Stabroek News, January 18, 2016). I now await a response, or swift decision on the King’s East Street Parking Lot.
Yours faithfully,
