A 40-month sentence was yesterday handed down to Kerry Dick, a youth whom the police had alleged attempted to murder a Kitty man, with the aid of another, last year.
It was alleged that on April 25, at William Street, Kitty, Dick, 21, of 15 Pike Street, Kitty, attempted to kill Donald McKenzie.
Although that was the original charge against Dick, it was changed to felonious wounding.
City magistrate Faith McGusty, when presenting her ruling yesterday, sentenced the defendant to 40 months behind bars.
The case was prosecuted by police prosecutor Seon Blackman.
It was previously reported that Dick and McKenzie had a misunderstanding on the night before the attack. On the day of the attack, Dick went to McKenzie’s home looking for him and he opened fire on him. McKenzie was, however, only hit to his right hand and he managed to escape.
