(Trinidad Express)- A 17 year old schoolgirl was shot dead and her 33 year old boyfriend wounded after they were attacked by gunmen in Arima on Thursday. Celine Thomas was discovered dead in bushes near the home of her boyfriend.
The man was said to be in serious condition with gunshot wounds to the arm, leg and buttocks. The shooting occurred at Calvary Branch Road around 9.30 p.m. When the gunmen attacked, the couple ran into nearby bushes but were unable to escape the gunfire.
Officers of the Homicide Region II and Arima CID responded. An autopsy was expected to be performed on Friday at the Forensic Sciences Centre.
The teenager’s killing took the murder toll to 48 according to an Express tally.
