Middle Rd home invaders drop gun during escape from cops

A young woman became the victim of a home invasion in the wee hours of yesterday morning when four bandits broke into her Middle Road, La Peni-tence, Georgetown home.

Police are now trying to track the men who robbed Komattie Kissoon, 25, then dropped a gun and other items during their hasty escape after police showed up at the scene.

The gun and ammunition and other items left behind by the bandits

Kissoon, 25, recounted that she was watching television around 2.10 am when a man “held on to my face and said don’t move.” The woman recalled the gunman placing a gun to her head and asking for cash and jewellery.

Kissoon said not long after she heard a second voice telling his accomplice not to injure her “because I pregnant.”

Kissoon went on to explain that after the men asked for the jewellery and cash, she told them she did not have any jewellery but “a pink bag” in the room contained cash. She added that the men escaped with a purse, which had $4,500, a cellular phone and her licence.

Kissoon, who noted that the men had rags tied around their faces, said they gained entry into house using a side door on the bottom flat. The woman said she did not hear any suspicious noise when the men were opening the door.

Before leaving, Kissoon said, the men asked for the keys to her gate, which she handed over, but as they were opening it they noticed the police and ran to the back of the yard, jumped the fence and fled.

The woman said somebody saw the men “lurking around the house and call the police.”

She added that the police did not notice the items left behind when they initially inspected her back yard. However, the gun, a black toque and a yellow glove were spotted at dawn and the police were alerted.
