Following a meeting held with the Commercial Registry staff and Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs Basil Williams yesterday, normalcy has been restored as it relates to who is in charge.
According to a release from the Ministry of Legal Affairs, earlier in January, Nicole Prince the Registrar (ag) left Guyana for the United Kingdom to pursue studies on a two-year programme. The Attorney General subsequently appointed Rukmini Bijlall Registrar (ag) upon Prince’s recommendation to act in her absence and Geeta Bijnath Deputy Registrar (ag). However, the release said that on 16th January, 2017, Prince returned to Guyana and advised the Attorney General that her admission had been deferred until September 2017.
The release said that Williams sought advice from the Public Service Ministry on the way forward and it was decided that Prince would remain at work until her course begins in September 2017. The meeting yesterday was held at the Commercial Registry office
