Plaisance Guardians edged Republic Bank Nets in the Open division while Eagles soared past Ravens 78-74 in the U23 section, when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) ‘League of Champions’ continued on Wednesday.
Staged at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue, Guardians squeaked past Nets 70-69. Trenton Woolford led the victor with 21 points, with the next best scorer coming in the form of Marlon Chesney, with 13 points and four assists.
Chipping in with 10 points was Nikoloi Smith. On the other end, Antwan Austin and Sheldon Howell netted eight points each while Michael Richards, Pelan Doris and Fabian Johnson scored seven, five and four points each.
Meanwhile, Eagles defeated Ravens 78-74. Travis Belgrave continued his dominant displays as, he recorded a double-double of 22 points and 17 rebounds. He was assisted by Darroll Williams, Kheon Evans and Kwesi Thompson who scored 14, 11 and 11 points apiece.
For the loser, Murtland Ward recorded a game high 24 points alongside six rebounds, while Shamar Huntley and Sebastian Luke contributed 22 and 13 points, correspondingly. The event continues tomorrow with another doubleheader.
