The second half of season two in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Stag Beer Elite League has been rescheduled to commence on February 26 with the ‘League Leaders Tournament’.
According to a release from the GFF, the decision was made to facilitate adequate preparation time for players who recently moved in the January transfer period and to promote the eventual start of the championship.
The event, which was scheduled to commence yesterday, will feature the top four teams from the standings competing in a knockout format.
Third placed Victoria Kings will oppose Buxton United, while league leader Guyana Defence Force (GDF) will tackle second placed Fruta Conquerors.
The winner of the Victoria Kings and Buxton United affair will face-off with the loser of the GDF and Fruta Conquerors contest, with the victor of the latter contest progressing directly to the final.
The eventual champion will pocket $1,500,000 while the second, third and fourth placed finishers will pocket $700,000, $500,000 and $300,000 respectively.
