The Guyana Police Force yesterday issued a bulletin for two men wanted in relation to a fatal fire two weeks ago at Kaneville Housing Scheme fire which claimed the life of eight-month-old, Romain Seth.
The police are seeking the assistance of the public in locating Keon Ashby of Kaneville, East Bank Demerara and ‘Waynie’ or ‘Shark’ of Diamond, EBD, who are both wanted for questioning in connection with the murder of Seth which occurred on January 23.
Seth died during the wee hours of January 23 after a fire destroyed the three-bedroom wooden house belonging to his grandmother, Michelle Menezes. When the fire started he was sleeping in one of the rooms.
The house was occupied by Menezes, her six children, her nephew and his common-law wife, and a family friend.
Menezes had told Stabroek News that around 2.00 in the morning she heard dogs barking. “… They running from the front to the back of the house… I get up and went to check but I ain’t see anything. When I turn around to go back into the bedroom, all I hear is boof and see a big ball a flame on the bed with the baby,” she said.
She added that when she ran to the front room to save the baby, she heard “boof, boof in the middle room and the back room,” and sounded an alarm to awaken her four children and her nephew who were sleeping in the other rooms.
Menezes had related to this newspaper that prior to the fire, her family had been threatened over contacting police about a gun that was found in their yard. She had dismissed the threat but never made a report until one of her sons was stabbed by a member of the gang affiliated with the person who had made the threat
