As part of Vice-Chancellor (VC) Ivelaw Griffith’s efforts to stimulate and support research and scholarship at the University of Guyana (UG), the VC’S Research Fund was recently established with $1 million from private fundraising and the UG Press is to be established as an imprint of Ian Randle Publishers (IRP).
A release from the university noted that Ian Randle, Chairman of the Jamaica-based publishing house is scheduled to deliver the second Vice Chancellor’s Lecture on March 16.
Randle who is expected to speak on “The Publishing Pillar of the Renaissance Bridge: Why, What, How” will during his visit sign a Memorandum of Understanding establishing UG Press as an imprint of IRP.
According to the release, the pursuit of the UG Press is an integral part of Vice-Chancellor Griffith’s efforts to stimulate and support research and scholarship at UG. It also notes that another key initiative in this respect is the Vice-Chancellor’s Research Fund.
