After much anticipation the fifth annual Milo U18 Secondary Schools football tournament will commence today at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue with four group matches.
Bishops’ High will engage St. Winifred in the event opener at 11:00hrs. In the second matchup, St. Rose’s battles Houston Secondary at 12:30hrs whilst North Ruimveldt will engage St. Joseph’s High from 14:00hrs.
In the final fixture at 15:30hrs, two-time defending champions Chase Academy will tackle Freeburg Secondary.
The tournament continues tomorrow at the same venue with another four matches.
At 11:00hrs, former winners Lodge Secondary will engage St. Mary’s while Kingston Secondary will battle East Ruimveldt from 12:30hrs. The third fixture will witness Tucville matching skills with St. John’s College whilst Morgan Learning Centre will oppose Charlestown Secondary from 15:30hrs.
The tournament, set to conclude April 23rd, features 32 teams competing in a round robin format of eight groups of four teams each.
Upon the conclusion of the group stage, the top two finishers in each group will advance to the elimination round.
The winning team will receive $500,000 towards a school project and the championship trophy while the second, third and fourth placed sides will pocket $300,000,$200,000 and $100,000 respectively towards a school initiative and a trophy.
