The Georgetown Metered Parking By-laws have been added to the website of the Official Gazette.
According to the website, a February 3, 2017 Extraordinary Gazette includes “Subsidiary Legislation – By-Laws No. 1 of 2017 – The George-town Metered Parking By-Laws 2017.”
However, this document was not available on the website as recently as Saturday, February 11, 2017, though there was a February 4, 2017 gazette which recorded a 10% increase in property taxes in Georgetown.
The gazetting of the by-laws has been an issue of contention with opponents of the metered parking project arguing that Smart City Solutions and the Mayor and City Council were acting outside of the law by enforcing measures which had not been approved by the Attorney General and duly gazetted as required by statute.
