Businessman and former Men’s Physique competitor, Coel Marks has thrown his hat in the ring to contest the presidency of the Guyana Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GABBFF).
Marks will be opposing incumbent President, Keavon Bess for the top post when the body holds its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election of office bearers tomorrow at 10:00hrs at Olympic House.
According to Marks, he decided to run for office since he feels he is the right man for the job to bring about positive change.
“Overall our goal is to bring a different approach towards running the federation. Bringing variant skill sets to create a great amalgamation that we think can build upon the current structure and enhance the potential of the sport’s formidability in Guyana and the region.”
Marks added that once elected he will be “Placing emphasis on the needs of the athletes first and ensuring patrons and potential lovers of the sport can expect quality performances from our shores.”
He continued, “We want to create a solid nexus with the business community. In addition, be vigilant in identifying and nurturing talent with Guyana.”
Marks concluded by stating that his executive will be made up of persons who want substantive change. His slate is as follows: Businessman, Seon Satrohan (Vice President), Economics Lecturer/Lead Officer Ministry of Communities, Roger Rogers (Treasurer) and ABE Lecturer at Nation’s University, Lisa Ahmad (General Secretary). Marks said his Committee Members will comprise of avid gym goers “So we all understand fully well the sacrifice and hard work that goes into the sport.”
When contacted, Bess told Stabroek Sport that the current Executive of the GABBFF encourages all stakeholders and federation members to come out and vote for their representatives.
