Diallo Jamal Shabazz, co-founder and coach of the Guyana Road Runners track and field club was re-elected president at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held February 12 at Floral Creations, Quamina Street, South Cummingsburg, Georgetown.
Javon Rocke, a former athlete of the club is the first vice president and Corlene Skekel, the second vice president, a press release from the club stated.
Twana Mc Almont is the secretary and Nigel Siland the treasurer.
Marilyn Gibson is the assistant secretary/treasurer and Wincel Thomas, a co-founder of the club, the organizing secretary. Delon Grandison, a former athlete of the club is the public relations officer.
The committee members are former national athlete Gladstone `Hoppie Hopkinson, Donicia Bess, Debra Douglas, Clifton Thom and Safa Shabazz.
Beyonce Skekel is the club captain and Lennox Whitney the vice-captain.
The coaches are Thomas, Shabazz, Siland and Hopkinson.
The returning officer was Winston St Hill while retired Major General Norman Mc Lean is the patron. The following members were bestowed with honorary life membership:- Devaun Barrington, Kevin Abbensetts, Siddiqua Shabazz, Carlisa Atkinson, Dawud Shabazz, Virlyn Gibson, Daniel Benjamin Jonathan Fagundes and Patrick Bobb.
According to the press release, the club intends to stage a recruitment drive seeking to enroll male and female athletes from Albouystown, Sophia, Agricola and Tiger Bay.
Meanwhile, Shabazz expressed gratitude to Mc Lean, Lieutenant Colonel retired, Larry London, Dr. Carl `Max Hanoman, Frank De Abreu of DeSinco Trading, Mohammed’s Enterprise and George Mc Donald, Banks DIH Director, for the support the club has received over the years.
