Pork knocker remanded on gun charge

A pork knocker was yesterday refused bail on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm when he appeared before a city court.

The courtroom of Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan heard that on February 15, at North West District, Mark Chan, 24, of Port Kaituma, North West District, had a .32 Beretta pistol in his possession although is not the holder of a firearm licence.

Chan pleaded not guilty.

Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones objected to bail being granted to Chan, who was remanded to prison until May 9, when the case will be called again at the Matthews Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
