The Guyana Police Force (GPF) and Santos football clubs Sunday sealed semi-final berths in the Petra Organization/Limacol football championships after defeating Den Amstel and Mahaica Determinators respectively at the Victoria Ground.
The lawmen fell behind 0-1 before coming back to defeat Den Amstel 2-1. Kester Jacobs put the lawmen behind with his third minute strike but the officers equalised through Dwain Jacobs two minutes later.
Quincy Holder then completed the win with his 12th minute conversion. The GPF will now play Winners Connection Friday at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground in the semi-final.
Similarly, Santos erased a 1-0 deficit to defeat Mahaica Determinators 2-1. Eion Abel gave Mahaica the lead when he found the back of the net in the fourth minute.
However, Santos equalised in the 45th+3 minute as Dominique Bobb etched his name on the scorer’s sheet. The result was then completed in the 77th minute with Orin Yarde finding the back of the net.
Santos will now match skills with fierce rival Western Tigers in the other semi-final.
