The Guyana Fire Service has come in for praise after firefighters saved a house from going up in flames at Coldingen, East Coast Demerara on Thursday night.
While the origin of the fire is unknown, an investigation has been launched to determine the cause.
Stabroek News was told that around 11.45pm on Thursday, a passerby noticed smoke coming from a tightly secured two-storey house. He immediately contacted the Guyana Fire Service and firefighters soon arrived and managed to out the fire.
