Dear Editor,
We are in the habit of criticising our public servants and not applauding them when they get things right. I would therefore like to commend the police at Providence Police Station as some deaf person on Eccles Public Road decided to turn up their music to the maximum setting shortly before midday on Mash Day.
After trying to ignore it for ten minutes and hearing it resounding off buildings, I rang the aforementioned police station but did not catch the name of the officer who said he would send a patrol vehicle; I rang back and a female officer whose name was McLeod assured me that she had informed the mobile patrol.
About twenty minutes later the music was adjusted down and then raised again after a short time. Within ten minutes it had substantially reduced and the rest of day passed peacefully.
I would like to express my gratitude to Providence Police Station.
Yours faithfully,
