Some 18 Under-17 footballers have been encamped by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) ahead of their participation in the “Tournoi Paul Chillan” tournament in Martinique from March 1– 5.
According to a press release from the GFF, the camp, which began last Tuesday will last for eight days.
Nine players are from the Georgetown Football Association, (GFA), two each from the East Bank Football Association (EBFA) and East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) and one player each from the Berbice Football Association (BFA), Rupununi Football Association (RFA) and Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA). There is also one overseas-based player from the United States of America.
The members of the squad are Goalkeepers Jonathan Copeland, Sesi Norville, Defenders Cecil Jackman, Kevin Padmore, Jeremy Garrett, Ackel Forde, Raushan Ritch, Cyrus Nicholson, Midfielders, Ryan Dowding, Rondel Peters, Orville Daniels, Joshua Ferriera, Jermaine Garrett and Forwards Nixon Robertson, Nicholas McArthur, Troni Semple and Zion Gray.
Bryan Joseph is the head coach and the other members of the management team are GFF Technical Director Ian Greenwood, Assistant Coach Sampson Gilbert, Goalkeeper Coach Eon De Vieira, Team Manager Carlos Bernard, Physiotherapist Seulear Hope-Ross and Referee Kenisha Prescott.
Other countries down to compete in the event are Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti and Martinique.
