Two accused robbers met the same fate yesterday when they were remanded to prison.
Magistrate Judy Latchman first read a robbery charge to Leon Murray, of Castello Housing Scheme. It is alleged that on December 26, 2016, at Castello Housing Scheme, Georgetown, Murray stole two gold chains valued at $115,000, two rings valued at $120,000 and a gold and silver bangle valued at $15,000. The items were the property of Shawn Solomon.
Murray, who appeared to have difficulty speaking, muttered to the court that he was not guilty of the crime.
Meanwhile, Shawn Smith, 18, was also accused of robbery.
It is alleged that Smith, in the company of others, robbed Shivani Sooklall of a jersey and a cellphone, valued at $258,000, on February 23, at Brickdam. He too denied the allegation made against him.
Both Murray and Smith were remanded to prison and will make their next court appearance on March 20.
