Dear Editor,
First, I am neither the author of the letter in last week’s Stabroek News (‘Section M Campbellville has been forgotten’ February 24), nor one of the residents interviewed by the Stabroek News for the article appearing on February 27, but both the author and the residents have my full support.
As reported by the Stabroek News Mr Garrett apparently feels that “the problem we residents are facing is not the problem of the council.”
Yes, we are aware that there is a nationwide drainage problem, but, we are also aware, as Mr Garrett should be, that within the municipality of Georgetown, drainage is the council’s responsibility, and as the elected representative for section M Campbellville, the drainage of that section is his responsibility.
By campaigning as a candidate in the local government elections, he opted to represent his constituents by ensuring that the council discharge its responsibilities, and it is now time to deliver on his promises, rather than make excuses.
Yours faithfully,
Ernest M Ford
