Accused of stealing over $200,000 in items from the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT), two men were yesterday granted bail after being read the charge by a city Magistrate.
Magistrate Fabayo Azore read a charge of robbery to 28-year-old Navin Ally, and 43-year-old Ricardo Fernandez, who are accused of stealing two toilet bowl sets, two security lights and two carpets from GTT. The items have a total value of $276,025.
Both Ally and Fernandez pleaded not guilty to the crime which was committed between February 12 and February 24 at Croal Street, Georgetown.
Magistrate Azore later granted the defendants $75,000 bail each.
The matter will be called again on March 15.
