The ‘Gentleman’s Sport returns to the ornate splendor of the Giftland Mall on April 9 with a stacked ProAm card.
Boxing starved fans will be treated to four professional bouts along with three amateur fights at the open air arena at the Pattensen edifice.
These and other details were disclosed yesterday by Eion Jardine, a match maker within the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC).
According to Jardine, the professional segment will see the flashy Dexter ‘De Kid’ Marques making his highly-anticipated ring return in the feature bout of the evening.
The showman flyweight, who has not fought since last February, will look to shake off some ring rust since his promotional team has already lined up a Commonwealth title fight with their sights set on a world title crack later in the year.
Marques (15-2-0) will match gloves with Venezuelan, Alberto Requena, in a 10-round affair.
The co-feature will involve Edmond ‘Wonder Boy’ DeClou and Winston Pompey matching gloves in a six-round super middleweight encounter.
Another six-round fight will see Imran ‘Magic’ Khan taking on Keeve Allicock while Anson Green will seek to defend home turf against Barbadian Chadwick Estwick. The pair will square off in a scheduled four-round catchweight fight. The contract signing, projected for sometime next week, will make the card official. The names of the amateur pugilists will also be disclosed subsequently. Stabroek Sport will keep readers updated as events for the fixture unfold. (Emmerson Campbell).
