Having been among external and internal candidates who were assessed by the board and independent assessors based on both technical and management experiences, James was deemed the most suitable candidate for the government holding company.

Prior to his appointment as NICIL’s Head, James had been performing the duties of the Officer in Charge of NICIL since January 2016, following the departure of the former CEO Winston Brassington.

A UK trained Engineer, the new CEO was also the former Head of the Linmine Secretariat (2013-2015) and the former CEO of the Linden Electricity Company, the release noted.

Meanwhile, Emmet Alves, who had been performing the duties of the Head of the Linmine Secretariat since January 2016, has also been confirmed in that position with effect from March 1, 2017.

A trained Mining Engineer, Alves had been responsible for executing or managing a number of Linmine engineering and environment-related projected, including the Mackenzie-Wismar Bridge.
