A 21-year-old teacher was yesterday discovered dead in her Mahdia, Region 8 apartment and while suicide is suspected the police are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
She has been identified as Bridgette Theya Narine, a nursery school teacher who hails from Chateau Margot, East Coast Demerara.
Commander of ‘F’ Division, Rabindranauth Budhram confirmed the discovery with Stabroek News.
While the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain unclear, reports revealed that the incident might have occurred sometime between Friday and yesterday.
Narine reportedly did not report for work on Friday which raised concerns. As a result, several persons tried to make contact with her to no avail.
Investigations are ongoing and a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted soon.
