Team Wreckers received a timely shot in the arm from Ansa McAL yesterday ahead of the highly anticipated ‘Reaction Dragz’ meet on Sunday.
Team Wreckers headed by Anand Ramchand will compete in four classes for the flammable event which is gearing up to set the South Dakota Circuit ablaze.
Ansa McAL through its Gillette brand, provided sponsorship for three, including last year’s 12-second class winner’s Toyota Levin.
At a handing over ceremony yesterday, Proctor and Gamble Co-coordinator Diana Ally contended that the company is proud to be a part of the team, adding “We’d sponsored last year and we were a part of the team last year and we are going to be a part of the Gillette car [team].”
Meanwhile, Ramchand noted that “the 12-second class is the biggest there is; the last time it was tough but we are going again and the beautiful thing is that the mechanic drove the 12-second car and we hope to see him do it again.”
The speed demon pointed that apart from the Levin in the 12-second class, they will also be in the 10-second class with a Mitsubishi Evolution V1, as well as the 11 and 13-second classes with a Toyota Celica and a Nissan Pulsar.
The team which has been a known dark horse both in the Drag and Endurance racing world is hoping to pick up more than one title when the lights go green at the Circuit.
Sunday’s event, which will feature six cars from Suriname and eight classes of action is expected to begin at 9:00 with free runs. See you there.
