Daredevils and fans get ready, the local motor racing season gets off to an explosive start today with the staging of the ‘Reaction’ Dragz Meet at the South Dakota Circuit.
According to President of the GMR&SC, Rameez Mohamed ”We are expecting a big turn out, I met with the drivers and they are fascinated with the new systems that we have put in place and they are eager to race.”
Dragsters like Sean Persaud in his Toyota Caldina, Anand Ramchand and Peter Daby in their Mitsubishi Evo and Mazda RX7 cars and Rondell Daby’s feared Toyota Supra will be putting the pedal to the metal.
They will be getting opposition from the visiting Surinamese who have invaded our shores and have boasted of throwing down the gauntlet in record-breaking fashion.
There will also be $50,000 up for grabs for the fastest bus.
As of recent, Drag Racing has been the seasons’ curtain raiser and the eagerness the burn tyre and be the fastest on the “straight away” is brewing at an all-time high among the speed demons. A day a flammable excitement on the raceway is envisaged.
The racers are scheduled to start their engines from 10:00hrs.
The categories to be contested are the F Class – 14 Seconds Bracket, E Class – 13 Seconds Bracket, D Class – 12 Seconds Bracket, C Class – 11 Seconds Bracket, B Class – 10 Seconds Bracket, A Class – 9 Seconds Bracket and the 8 Seconds Bracket.
The Porta Tree Timing device with specialized starting lights will be operational throughout the day.
Admission for adults is $1000 while children will pay half the amount.
