Transport Sports Club yesterday scampered to a five-run victory over Everest Cricket Club in the New Building Society (NBS) second division limited overs competition at the Everest Cricket Club ground, camp Road.
Transport won the toss, elected to bat and was bowled out for 160 in 35.3 overs. Sunil Singh, who batted at number three, top scored for Transport with 51, an innings which contained three fours and two sixes. Singh got support from Charwayne McPherson who made 24 with three fours. Azeem Azeez made 11 and Devaughn Nandan and Rafael Singh 10 runs each.
Everest bowlers Richie Looknauth 3-24, Akshaya Persaud 3-20 and Azad Mohamed 2-29 were the main wicket takers for the Camp Road boys who, in reply came up short falling for 155 in the 40th over with two deliveries to spare and five runs short of their target. Persaud returned with the bat to make made 80 in a losing cause while Khemraj Ramdeen supported with 35.
