Veteran golfer Hilbert Shields was elected president of the Lusignan Golf Club at last Saturday Annual General Meeting and election of office bearers.
According to a press release the LGC elected a “committee packed with experienced members who it is hoped will guide the club out of its administrative rough of recent years.”
Shields had previously served a two-year term as LGC president.
Also elected was another former President Brian Hackett, who is now a vice president while the experienced Esau Shamshudin is the assistant secretary/treasurer.
Brian Glasford is the new Club Captain, a role he had performed previously while Deanand Bissessar is the Grounds Superintendent.
Anand Persaud is the treasurer and William Walker, the PRO replacing
Guy Griffith who has agreed to stay on for a few months to help with the transition.
According to the release, Shields thanked both the outgoing President Oncar Ramroop and the secretary for the yeoman service they had given over their term. He also noted (with some alarm) that many members were not financially up to date and encouraged all those interested in furthering the game to get involved by joining various sub committees which he plans to set up shortly.
