Dear Editor,
I respond to the letter by Sherwin Delano Downer in SN of March 17. It was headlined ‘Why does a non-resident head an indigenous syndicate mining group?’
First of all, the Karrau Mining Syndicate was formed by Barticians and is a Bartica syndicate. This syndicate was neither formed nor named for the village of Karrau, but any miner wanting to become a member can so do.
Mr Downer should try to get meaningfully involved in promoting the lives of people. I have been very vocal in the matter where lands from the said Karrau area were given to the head of a big organisation, but these lands should be given to the Karrau Mining Syndicate so all small miners can have land to work.
Yours faithfully,
Judith David Blair
President of Karrau Mining Syndicate
