Defending champions of the Edward ‘Screw’ Richmond Secondary School Football Championships, Wisburg Secondary was declared to have forfeited their win against Linden Technical Institute (LTI) after fielding an ineligible player during their matchup.
Wisburg had defeated LTI 2-1 at the Wisburg Secondary School ground through goals from Joel Innis in the fourth and 65th minute. However, it was discovered that the team fielded a player over the stipulated age requirement in the contest.
Due to outcome, Wisburg now has three points from two matches in group-A while LTI has four points from two matches. Also on four points from two fixtures are Linden Foundation Secondary (LFS) while Private Schools Combined (Marcia Craig’s Institute and School of Excellence) are without a point from two matchups.
Meanwhile, Christianburg/Wismar Secondary defeated Mackenzie High 1-0 through an Omar Brewley strike in the 68th minute at the Wisburg Secondary ground on Monday.
With win, Christianburg/Wismar Secondary move to the top spot in group-B on six points from two games while Mackenzie High remain without a point after two losses. New Silver City sits on three points in the group from one match whilst Harmony are yet to record a point after one match.
In another fixture, LFS humbled Private Schools Combined 4-0. Carlos Hinds, Tyrese Gordon, O’Neil Webb and Malcolm Layne netted in the 20th, 46th, 50th and 72nd minute respectively.
The event resumes today at the same venue with a double-header. At 14:45hrs, Harmony Secondary tackles New Silvercity Secondary while LTI opposes Private Schools Combined at 16:15hrs.
