A 10-hour police operation in Linden led to charges against nine persons over narcotics and break and enter offences, the police say.
A release from the Guyana Police Force yesterday said that a team under the command of Commander ‘E’ Division, Senior Superintendent Fizal Karimbaksh on Saturday night conducted several raids in the communities of Mackenzie, Amelia’s Ward, Block 22, One Mile and Silver Town for narcotics, stolen properties and wanted persons.
The exercise which commenced at 7 pm netted nine persons all of whom were charged and appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
Those charged with Possession of Narcotics are as follows.
- Carl Simmons, 30, of Berbice Road, Mackenzie; Kevon Chester, 30, and Ryan Samuel, 35, both of Central Amelia’s Ward and Leon Ross, 22, of Wismar Housing Scheme were all sentenced to one hundred hours of Community Service.
- Khalil Mustafa, 21, of Wismar Market Area was also charged with escaping lawful custody and was remanded until April 19, 2017.
- Vernon Arthur, 57, of Wisroc Extension was sentenced to fifty hours of Community Service.
- Shawn Alleyne, 23, of Amelia’s Ward pleaded not guilty and is on $45,000 bail. The case has been postponed until April 18, 2017.
Charged with Breaking and Entering are as follow:
- Eon Anderson of Alstrom Alley, Wismar. He was charged with Break and Enter and Larceny committed on the dwelling of Lance McCalmon at Christianburg, Wismar. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded until April 19, 2017.
- Julius Branker, 19, of Central Amelia’s Ward was charged with Break and Enter and Larceny and also Burglary committed on the dwelling of Deanna Emanuel of Central Amelia’s Ward and Marquita DeSouza also of Central Amelia’s Ward respectively. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded until April 25, 2017.
