BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC — Test batsman Kraigg Brathwaite has been recalled to the Barbados Pride squad as one of three changes for their eighth round clash against tournament leaders Guyana Jaguars starting here today.
The 24-year-old right-hander has been joined by all-rounder Kenroy Williams and fast bowler Keon Harding in the 13-man squad announced by the selectors.
They replace the injured Kemar Roach, batsman Omar Phillips and West Indies left-hander Jonathan Carter who has joined up with the regional side to prepare for the upcoming Twenty20 series against Pakistan starting Sunday.
Brathwaite, who assumes the captaincy from all-rounder Kevin Stoute, missed the two last two rounds of the competition after playing for West Indies in the three-match one-day series against England recently.
He will strengthen the Pride unit who have won their last two games on the trot but now face two-time defending champions Jaguars.
Pride lie second in the standings on 87.4 points, behind Jaguars on 103.2, and will need a victory in order to close the gap and blow the title race open for the last two rounds of the tournament.
Jaguars will also enter the contest on a two-match winning streak.
The game will break for Sunday’s T20 against Pakistan at Kensington Oval and resume the following day.
