With less than five days remaining before Guyana battles CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifier Martinique, on March 28th at the MSC ground in Linden, the Guyana Football Federation has shortlisted a 30 man provisional squad featuring 13 foreign based players.
The foreign based contingent includes Akel Clarke (Central FC of Trinidad and Tobago), Andrew Durant (San Juan Jabloteh of Trinidad and Tobago), Adrian Butters (York Region Shooters of Canada), Chris Nurse (Islington Admiral United of England), Quincy Adams (S.V. Nishan 42 of Suriname), Samuel Cox (Wealdstone of England), Daniel Wilson (S.V. Nishan 42 of Suriname), Kelsey Benjamin (Caledonia AIA of Trinidad and Tobago), Vurlon Mills (San Juan Jabloteh FC Trinidad and Tobago), Warren Creavalle (Philadelphia Union of the USA), Brandon Beresford (Rochester Rhinos of the USA), Marcel Barrington (Hendon FC of England) and Shaquille Agard (Durham United FC of Canada).
On the other hand, the local group consists of Jonathon Copeland (Milerock), Kester Jacobs and Delon Lanferman (Den Amstel FC), Solomon Austin, Shamar Smith, Ryan Hackett, Pernell Schultz and Eon Alleyne, (Fruta Conquerors FC), Olvis Mitchell, Delroy Ferdinand, Travis Henry and Eusi Phillips (Guyana Defence Force), Ralph Parris and Curtis Kellman (Georgetown Football Club), Job Caesar (Santos), Clive Nobrega (Eagles) and Trayon Bobb (Uitvlugt).
On the management side, former assistant coach under Jamal Shabazz and Alpha United tactician Wayne Dover will act as the interim head-coach.
His assistant will be Charles Pollard, with Anson Ambrose, Eon DeVeira, Denzil Fernandez and Trevor Burnett serving in the capacity of physical trainer, goalkeeper coach, physio and kit manager, respectively.
Guyana’s most recent international senior fixture ended in an embarrassing 4-2 loss to Jamaica at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora, which resulted in their elimination from the CFU Caribbean Cup.
