New varieties of vegetable seeds are out on the market. Over the last two weeks, I have set English Tomatoes, Celery, Chives, Wiri Pepper and Sweet Pepper seeds.
Most of my seedlings are approximately one to two inches tall. Surprisingly the English tomatoes and Chives are almost 4 inches tall.
It is quite easy to set the seeds. Use Pro Mix for best results in setting seeds. Moisten Pro Mix with water. Fill up seedling tray with Pro Mix and set 1 seed per hole. Cover seed with a little more Pro Mix and mist lightly once per day. Place in a semi shaded area.
Seedlings would pop up in 3 to 7 days. When strong enough, approximately two inches, you can transplant seedlings into prepared beds or half drums. If the sun is too strong you may need to make a shade with some branches to protect your seedlings.
Within four to six weeks you would be able to harvest your own vegetables on a daily basis. The taste and texture would be a plus.
Until next week, Happy Gardening.
