At least two persons were rushed to the hospital yesterday afternoon after a minibus apparently lost control on Brickdam and slammed into a utility pole on Brickdam, which broke and fell onto a parked car.
The incident occurred around 5.30 pm in front of the National Television Network and the driver of the Route 48 minibus, BVV 273, fled the scene. It is unclear if he was apprehended up to last evening.
Stabroek News understands that the route 48 minibus was proceeding east along Brickdam, when the driver ran off the road and slammed into the utility pole, which fortunately, did not seem to have wires attached.
While no one was seriously injured, at least two persons were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Both of the vehicles were severely damaged.
