WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States is not seeking the immediate suspension of Vene-zuela from the Organization of American States, which is meeting yesterday to discuss the country’s political and economic crisis, a senior State Department official said.
“Our goal for the special session is not immediate suspension,” said Michael Fitzpatrick, US deputy assistant secretary of state for the western hemisphere. “We encourage Venezuela to participate in a productive discussion on ways to solve the economic and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela.”
