-East Coast makes light work of East Bank
National Youth cricketer Ashmead Nedd yesterday led the Georgetown Representative team to victory over West Demerara at the Everest Cricket Club ground in their opening encounter of the Demerara U17 Inter-Association competition yesterday.
In the second encounter East Coast made light work of East Bank at the Enmore Community Development Centre ground, a press release from the Guyana Cricket Board stated.
According to the release, the Georgetown Cricket Association failed to field a team and the organisers were forced to use a team formed with the six available Georgetown players and some reserve players from the other associations with the match reduced to 40-overs-per-side.
The Georgetown Representative team took first strike and was dismissed for 115 in 28.4 overs. Sachin Singh made 25 and Dick 20.
Elian Whyte bagged 5/25 from 6.2 overs while Aftab Basir supported with 3/17.
In reply, Nedd grabbed 4/14 from eight overs while Dick and Qumar Torrington with identical 2/10 figures helped bundle out West Demerara for 62 in 29.2 overs.
At Enmore where the match was reduced to 36 overs-per-side due to rain, East Coast posted 149/6 from their allotted overs. Rajendra Singh top scored with 41 and Andrew Samaroo chipped in with 39.
East Bank in reply reached 102/9 at the end of their allotted overs. Andsuegga Rodrigues and Jamal Michael top scored with 17 runs each while
Hemant Dindyal snatched 4/15 from six overs and Andrew Samaroo two wickets for 16 runs.
The competition continues this Saturday.
